About

me

Courtesy of Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre

Hello, I'm Anna!

I'm an actor, dancer, and singer with a special love for Shakespeare and family-friendly theatre and film. I love works that get to the heart of human nature, helping artists and audiences to grow in understanding of and empathy for others.

I love to bring people joy through my work. I believe theatre can lead us to better understand this beautiful, wild ride called life; it can also simply make us smile and laugh.

When I'm not performing, I love to read classic novels, ponder philosophy while taking a walk, and sew old clothes into something new.

FUN FACT #1

My favorite acting class ever was...Clowning! However, it is very hard to pick favorites because I love acting so much. My clown character's name was Ophelia.

FUN FACT #2

I went to an all-girls' middle & high school, so I got to play roles that are definitely not my "type," including:

  • Bert in Mary Poppins

  • Captain Corcoran in HMS Pinafore

  • Billy in Big

It meant I learned theatre is all about imagining what it is to be someone different than yourself.

Sophomore year of high school

Shakespeare:

a love that started young

I read Midsummer in 6th grade, performed in it sophomore year, and competed in the ESU National Shakespeare Competition (2nd place!) with a Puck monologue senior year. I found great joy in embodying Puck - I felt so alive!

But as I grew as an artist in college, I started to discover on a deeper level what draws me to Shakespeare's work and to the performing arts as a whole.

Why Shakespeare?

He explores what it is to be human at every level - sensory, emotional, intellectual, spiritual. His characters reflect everything that people are, from our quirky behaviors to our pursuit of divine wisdom.

As a practicing Catholic and an artist, this search for truth inspires my work. I believe to understand each other better is to share in the divine life for which God made us - that of wisdom and love for one another.

Whether it's finding the moments sassy Shelby in John Proctor Is the Villain turns sweet, or sweet Silvia in The Two Gentlemen of Verona turns sassy, I love finding the complexity behind every character I play.

I hope every audience feels the same expansion of heart that I do as they walk in someone else's shoes with me.

FUN FACT #3

  • My junior year of high school, I played Abigail in The Crucible

  • My senior year of college I played Shelby in John Proctor Is the Villain. Shelby is a junior in high school when her life eerily parallels Abigail's and she reads for Abigail in her junior English class.
